Making Time for Personal Growth When You're Worn Out

Deep navy title card reading "Make time to grow" above rising arcs, labeled Mindset & purpose.

Man, I don't know about you, but in my conversations with people across a few different industries, it seems like a lot of us are tired. Some are worn out. Some are overwhelmed. And we're certainly busy.

But busy doing what?

Making time for personal growth starts with giving that question a little room. I want to encourage you to make space for something that nourishes your mindset, your soul, and your sense of purpose—even when your calendar already feels full.

Take an honest look at your busyness

Some of us are productive. Some of us are busy being busy. I'm including myself in that question, too.

You can have real responsibilities and still pause to ask where your attention is going. This isn't a reason to beat yourself up about everything on your calendar. It's an invitation to consider what you're making room for within it.

When was the last time you gave your own growth some attention? What are you doing to nourish the person carrying all those responsibilities?

Those are questions I want us to take seriously.

Make room for more than the next task

Think about your lunch break. You can go somewhere and have a great lunch. I hope you do. But I'd also like you to consider another kind of nourishment: something for your soul, your mindset, your overall health and fitness, your purpose, and your fulfillment.

That's the invitation behind The REAL FIT Life.

Why would we strive for it? What does it mean? Is there substance behind the name? Those are worth exploring together. I want us to give our growth more than a passing thought between everything else we have to do.

A full calendar tells you what you're committed to doing. Take a moment to ask who you're becoming along the way.

Give the invitation a place in your day

Here's a small place to start: look at your next lunch break and choose a few minutes for one honest question.

What part of my life needs some nourishment right now?

Maybe it's your mindset. Maybe it's your spiritual life or your sense of purpose. Write down what comes to mind, then choose one action that fits: a few quiet minutes of reflection, a meaningful conversation, or making time to learn alongside other people.

You don't have to turn this into another long list. Choose something you can actually make room for.

Invite one person along

If you're already part of The REAL FIT Life, I want to encourage you to reach out to one person. Invite them into the conversation. Share what we're exploring and give them an opportunity to be part of it.

Think of someone you'd like to grow alongside. A personal invitation can be simple: let them know you thought of them and ask whether they'd like to learn more.

Here's the challenge: make a little room for your own growth, and consider who you can invite to join you. Your mindset, your soul, and your purpose deserve your attention, too.
